JOB TITLE: Labourer
DEPARTMENT: Works
REPORTING TO: Clerk of Works
JOB TYPE: 1 Year fixed term
ROLE SUMMARY
This is an excellent opportunity for a Labourer to join our talented and skilled Works Team here at the prestigious and historic Roxburghe Estate. You will provide support to the works department in their day-to-day maintenance activities around the Estate and where appropriate, you will work with our other labourers to carry out basic repair tasks, suited to your skillset.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
As a site-based operative, you will be adaptable and will work in a variety of situations across our Estate. You will work across our entire built environment which includes our heritage assets such as Floors Castle, our policy grounds, farms and private rented properties.
Given the nature of the Estate, the work is without doubt varied. You will find yourself using all of your skills, training and initiative over a vast range of works from refurbishment and renewal type projects, assisting with service installations and the more basic jobbing type repairs.
Our Works Team are an adaptable group who respond to the challenge at hand. The Labourer must have a similar approach and be willing to muck in and lend a hand when needed. In addition, the Works Team are a very highly skilled group of craftsmen, working alongside which will provide you the opportunity to hone your existing skills and learn new ones.
HOURS OF WORK
This is a 1-year fixed term contract.
Flexibility is important, but a base working week would be 39 hours comprising:
Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:30 and Friday 08:00-15.30

We are looking for someone who is:

- Eligibility to work and live permanently in the UK.
- Hold a full UK Driving Licence (desirable).
ABOUT YOU – Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a similar labouring role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience working with a range of trade disciplines.
- Comfortable working at height.
Desirable
- Trained in work at height; use of PASMA tower scaffolds, MEWPS etc.
- Trained to work with typical site plant such as dumpers, abrasive wheels etc.
